SEA HAWK

The osprey (Pandion haliaetus) — also called fish eagle, sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk — is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey with a cosmopolitan range. It is a large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm (24 in) in length and 180 cm (71 in) across the wings. It is brown on the upper parts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts.

OSPREY IN FLIGHT WITH FISH. WITH FISH .  DELIVERY . An Osprey struggling to get into the air with a large, squirming fish will streamline its cargo by turning the fish in its talons until it faces forward. .

Birds of Prey

Bald Eagles do not always live up to their patriotic image. I was watching this osprey start to eat a mullet it had just caught when this bald eagle dived towards the osprey. The osprey took off, dropping the fish. The eagle grabbed the fish and was soon being chased by the osprey who did not get it back. The osprey was a slow learner, it was robbed by the same eagle in the same location the next day.
